1. When moving in, park the trailer you're borrowing on his side of the driveway (your side is full of your cars). Make sure to do this on a day when he's planning on having company.
2. Lock yourself out of your house when you go to check your mail. Make arrangements ahead of time that a) your husband doesn't answer the phone at work and b) the landlord won't bring the extra key over. That way another of your neighbors (who returned last night from a year in Iraq) will be able to come over to your house and help you break in, I mean, get in.
Not that I recommend either of these ways, you understand, but let's just say we've met two of our neighbors.

I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time, but it was pretty comical to read about. ;) I guess this is kind of like waking your neighbor Phil up on his day off to break Samuel out of the locked bathroom, eh?
Well yes, except that Phil already loved us!
Last week we creatively met some new neighbors by opening their credit card statement (which had been delivered to our box and is the same company as one of ours) and then calling the credit card company to find out why we had finance charges and why the amounts weren't right. It's not really a way I'd recommend either.
How embarrassing, Laura! Did you explain to your neighbors that you had called the credit card company or just left that info on a "need to know" basis???
